Welcome to RunningforSchoolBoard.org!  Across the United States there are thousands of School Board Members making decisions that directly affect the future of our children, and indirectly, our future as a nation.  Our school districts receive millions of hard-earned tax dollars each year to educate and prepare students for a lifetime of productivity.  Sadly, the amount of money spent on education has not always translated to results.  High school dropout rates are on the rise, students of all grades are struggling to meet the most basic minimum standards of knowledge and concepts, and graduates often lack the skills required to be successful in the twenty-first century.

Where have we gone wrong in education?  Running for School Board believes that all too often School Boards have played a detrimental role in the education of our children.  From abuses of power to misplaced priorities to lack of program accountability to wasteful spending and absence of transparency, our children deserve better.  Our nation's School Boards should be made up of Members who are advocates of education, not bureaucrats, stewards of taxpayer funding, not wasteful spenders, defenders of liberty and individual rights, not politicians beholden to special interests, including (and especially) teachers' unions, and individuals willing to be held accountable for their decisions and outcomes.

Running for School Board is a special project of American Majority, a non-profit, non-partisan political training institute whose mission is to train and equip a national network of leadership committed to individual freedom through limited government and the free market. Advocating true federalism, American Majority believes that national change begins at the state and local level. Toward that end, American Majority is building a national network of leaders and grassroots advocates who aspire to increase freedom for individuals and freedom and in the marketplace.

Running for School Board has three priorities:
